In 2007, Water of Life Lutheran Church located in southwest Las Vegas, prayerfully considered expanding the spread of the Gospel to the northwest part of the Las Vegas valley in order to better serve its members and the many lost souls from that area.  In the spring of 2008, the Home Mission Board of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) gave approval and financial support to start a new congregation in northwest Las Vegas.  In May, Pastor Aaron Strong, a graduate from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, was assigned to the NW Las Vegas Mission Church. 

    After meeting with the initial group of families, it was decided to name this new church, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  This name was chosen because of the awesome picture of the way in which God has promised and does care for his people.  Sheep without a shepherd are lost and wander off only to find themselves in danger that they can’t get out of by themselves.  We are like sheep.  When left to our own sinful ways and plans we are lost and wander off only to find ourselves in situations beyond our own correcting.  But our Good Shepherd (John 10:11) seeks us out and brings us into his fold.  There we are safe and cared for under the protection of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me...I lay down my life for the sheep.  I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen.  I must bring them also.  They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."

John 10:14-16

    Shepherd of the Hills exists to share the good news of Jesus with the communities of northwest Las Vegas.  We are now at our facility located in the Village of Centennial Springs (7501 Tule Springs Road).  We worship on Sundays at 9 am.  Pray that God bless the ministry of Shepherd of the Hills and the spread of the Gospel.
